Bill has over 30 years experience in automotive product development with extensive experience in product planning, program management and engineering. Bill began his career at Ford Motor Company as a development engineer and held various positions in crash safety, suspension development, and vehicle dynamics. Moving into product and business planning, Bill was the Product Planning Manager for the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor and held various positions in global product strategy, car program management, and powertrain planning.
Bill played a key role in the development of the Ford Taurus, Ford Taurus X and Mercury Montego product range that represented the creation of three all-new, highly differentiated products built on a common vehicle platform. His responsibilities on the program covered a range of disciplines from planning and program management to marketing and media relations as the program went from advanced concept through to production launch. Joining the program team in the concept planning stage, Bill’s expertise in business development, innovation and consumer insights were invaluable in defining, designing and bringing these vehicles to market. He lead the product definition and system selection process, developed the features and options strategy, managed the appearance approval process and also played a leadership role in the media launch and consumer roll-out.
As Product Strategy Manager for the Mustang, Escape and Focus carlines, Bill was responsible for planning product programs in excess of $250 million dollars of product investment for a diverse portfolio of vehicles lines that had an annual revenue of over $5 billion dollars. Bill also developed product proposals for special edition feature vehicles that enhanced carline brand equity and improved overall profitability by $50 million.
Bill began working at Carbon Motors Corporation in 2007 and had the lead responsibility for translating customer requirements into product actions. As program manager, Bill was instrumental in bringing the running Concept Demonstration Vehicle (CDV) to reality. Since its completion, the fully functional CDV has been on over 50 Pure Justice Tour stops across the country where it has been met with critical acclaim from law enforcement officers, police chiefs, fleet administrators, government and civic leaders and members of the news media.
Bill has also been able to indulge his lifelong passion for auto racing by participating in the production of world-class motorsports events such Formula 1, Champ Car and the Indy Racing League. Bill has been a member of the management staff of the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, the Cleveland Grand Prix, the Molson Indy Vancouver and several other motorsports events across the country.
Bill earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University and a Master of Business Administration degree in Marketing from the University of Detroit Mercy.
