Carbon Motors™ Receives Letter of Support from Chicago Police Department

April 18, 2007

ATLANTA, Georgia – Today, Carbon Motors Corporation received a validating and strong letter of support from the City of Chicago which manages one of the largest law enforcement fleets in the nation.

“The City of Chicago has, for several years, been seeking a viable alternative to the ‘police package’ sedans that are currently available in the marketplace. It is widely recognized that the current offerings of the major auto manufacturers are essentially variations of sedans that are built for the general public. As a result, these vehicles are unable to incorporate many of the performance and durability features that could be attainable if the units were designed and built specifically for heavy-duty police service,” stated, Commissioner Howard J. Henneman.

William Santana Li, Chairman and CEO, Carbon Motors Corporation, remarked, “Carbon Motors is pleased to welcome the support and involvement of the City of Chicago. We have established a positive and open working relationship and look forward to strong collaboration, consistent with our deeply-held views on private-public sector cooperation.”

Commissioner Henneman continued, “Based upon the present stage of development of the Carbon Motors ‘purpose-built’ police vehicle, I believe that your finalized product will provide the City with a large number of the features we have been seeking. In addition, because most of these features are focused on improving officer safety, lowering operating costs and reducing maintenance expenses, such items may be included in future specifications for our police patrol vehicles….the City of Chicago is excited about the prospect of the Carbon Motors ‘purpose-built’ police vehicle coming into the marketplace.”
