ATLANTA, Georgia 10 November 2008 – Carbon Motors Corporation today announced its partnership with Transense Technologies plc for the development of the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) to be used on the Carbon E7, the world’s first purpose-built law enforcement patrol vehicle.
“A primary objective for Carbon Motors is the safety of the officers using our E7 vehicle. Correct tire inflation pressure is paramount in ensuring the vehicle drives safely and predictably in the difficult and often high speed driving situations that law enforcement officers encounter”, commented Trevor J. Rudderham, executive vice president and chief development officer of Carbon Motors Corporation. He added:
“Carbon has teamed up with Transense Technologies plc to provide the tire pressure monitoring system for the E7 as we believe it offers the most accurate, effective and durable technology in this arena.”
Graham Storey, Transense Commercial Director remarked: “We are extremely pleased to be selected by Carbon Motors for the E7 project, a vehicle designed rather than adapted for use and focusing on safety and economy. Tires at the correct pressure improve braking distance and fuel consumption”. He added: “Transense passive SAW sensors do not incorporate any batteries, eliminating disposal issues. Transense licensees and partners involved in the E7 project include Melexis, Sengenuity, Tai-Saw, Texas Instruments and Schott who are market leaders in their respective fields”.
