During our initial visits to Connersville, a certain billboard caught our eye. It read, “Carbon Motors: Our automotive history. Your automotive future.” It is clear that the community has deep roots in the automotive industry. Some of the biggest and most recognizable vehicle names have come out of Connersville, which used to be known as “Little Detroit” (soon to be known as The Police Car Capital of the World!). In the coming weeks, I will be posting a 4-part series looking forward through the past as we kick-off an historical 2010.
Much of this information was derived from a series of article written by a local Connersville auto historian, Richard Stanley. The articles were printed in the local newspaper in advance of Carbon Motor’s visit to Connersville in April 2009.
