Hello Connersville! 12 Aug 2009

A few of months ago, I was looking to replace a personal computer at home. Being a die-hard Apple Mac fan, I quickly settled in on an iMac – something that would be used for household duties and the kids’ entertainment. In the interest of maintaining peace and harmony in the home, I agreed to first seek out a used machine.

After much searching, I found a suitable candidate… in Seattle, Washington (I live in Atlanta {for the time being!}). I conversed via email with the owner, Rich, to see if we could come to some sort of an agreement. Much to my surprise, he was a software engineer who cared very little about sharing the details of his computer with me. In fact, his entire response was focused on my email address… and the company from which it came… and the product that it would soon produce.

As it turns out, Rich had apparently been following the Carbon Motors story for some time, and he had only one real request – “Can I get a Carbon shirt?” This was just too funny, and so flattering. And we are hearing this more and more lately, from each and every Pure Justice Tour stop to the communities responding to jobs of national importance. The folks in Connersville sold out of over 800 shirts for Carbon Motors Day in May, and then another 2,000 of them for the “Rally for American Jobs” in July. By the way, yesterday, Bill Li (our Chairman and CEO) stopped by to say hello and thank the team at Athletic Arena 2 (530 West 30th Street, Connersville, IN 47331) who printed the shirts – and to see if there was an interest in doing some more stuff with Carbon Motors.

So far, we’ve been asked for posters, coins, license plates, hats, lapel pins and buttons. And since we plan to launch the “The Carbon Collection” as our online store in the near future, we would like to hear your suggestions! Priority will be given to vendors in Connersville, and I look forward to reviewing any proposals you might have – hopefully we can stir up some business together. I’ll be moving to Indiana very soon, so go ahead and post your suggestions on this blog and I’ll make a point to stop by your shop, chat, and check out a sample or two!

By the way – Rich, your shirt is already in the queue!

I think you should make the "stress balls", to look like the Carbon Motors E7, with Carbon Motors Connersville on it. Would make a great marketing tool, gifts for police officers all over the world.... I have lived most of my life in Connersville, and am very excited about Carbon Motors!

I wore my Carbon Motors shirt recently to a cookout in another town. People were familiar with the name, but not the whole story. They kept asking if I worked for Carbon Motors! I just said "Not yet!" I'd love to have a nice Carbon Motors hat. How about a license plate frame that says "My other car is an E7"! :)

How about a E7 police CAR as a pace car FOR THE INDY 500 AND BRICKYARD 400 RACES! A INDIANA CAR PACING A INDIANA RACE!

Welcome to Connersville, and more generally Indiana. I was thinking about your company's positive attitudes toward the environment, your upcoming architectural challenges, and how they can be/are connected. (Issues that are becoming more and more important in marketing) I would like to discuss LEED design practices, and possibly make recommendations to your organization, so your built environment can be as successful and inspiring as your product.

Most police officers collect police stuff, like small police cars, make a model.. most common model sizes are 1/24 , 1/48, and 1/64.. i prefer 1/48

I am looking for a collection of both 1/64 and 1/43 scale diecast miniatures of each Police Department requesting an E7. Russell Hughes,1/64 scale, rjh@greenlighttoys.com and Mike Fleckenstein,1/43 scale, fleck@hawkmodels.com or Dennis Deal,1/43 scale, dennis_diecast@hotmail.com An E7 for everyone. These would be great for both the kids and the collectors.

I am going to college in Hibbing MN for Law Enforcement and to have the E7 comming out a few years after I hopefully get out on the street is great. I would like to get to one of the tours but as a college student I don't have to money to travel anywhere so all I have are pics and videos and I have to say "I can't wait" !!!

A great Collectable and marketing tool is a wallet sized card that has a picture of the E-7 as the background and the Police Officers Prayer on the face. Police Officers and their families and friends would carry it everywhere and the sincerety of a caring community would shine. I am certain that most t-shirt businesses and graphic arts businesses could produce something like this at a reasonable price. Good Luck in you endeavors.

Stacy, Would you please tell me to whom Kirby Risk www.kirbyrisk.com could send some initial information to introduce Kirby Risk Electrical Supply Company to Carbon Motors. We would like to offer our help in any way possible and discuss what services Kirby Risk can offer to Carbon Motors during your initial start up process and beyond. We are located just north across the highway from the former Visteon facility and are very familiar with the facility as we were one of Visteon's largest local suppliers. Thanks, Gary

Stacy, my husband and I have been so excited by the Carbon Motors pick of Connersville! When does Carbon plan on hiring their start-up engineers? We are looking forward to hearing more about Carbon Motors soon!!

Jennifer Scott said:

How about ink pens? They "get around!" All kinds of professionals love pens/use them often. A cool design and/or a smooth writing ink would be perfect! Give them out with post-it notes that have the E7 in the background, or are shaped like an E7. Another idea is for a Carbon Motors scale train. Train collectors and kids alike would enjoy them! Throw blankets, watches, BBQ aprons, coffee cups/travel mugs, baby cloathes/bibs, etc.

To The Team Of Carbon Motors, I am so excited about you coming to Cville,In. My folks moved here when I was a young child from Eastern KY. At that time Manfacturing was booming, and my Dad came here to work, to provide a decent living for his family. He worked for almost 30 years at D&M,( made dishwashers). I myself was able to grow up and work there for a few years before it closed up and moved OUT. It seemed to me after that happened it was like letting AIR out of a balloon slowly on the manufacturing in this city. Some blame it on cheaper wages some where eles, others say no it was the unions. I do not know exaclty why all the whys,IT JUST It Happened. However CARBON MOTORS HAS BREATHED NEW LIFE INTO THIS CITY.I AM EMPLOYED at STANT INC. I AM POSITIVE WE CAN DO BUSINESS WITH YOU. THANK YOU CARBON MOTORS!
