Yesterday was one of those days that turned out to be truly inspiring on a personal level.
As I was growing up, my family instilled in me a certain level of pride in who I am (a Texan!) and the country in which I am privileged to live. My father served in the military and was also a police officer before I was born, so an appreciation for those who serve our country and the opportunities we have as a result of their sacrifices was also taught from as far back as I can remember.
Just a little over six years ago, I was still working a beat in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex as a police officer. Yesterday, I stood with my colleagues on the podium of the NASDAQ – the world’s largest exchange company – and together we rang the opening bell to kick off the day’s business around the world. It was a moment that stirred in me feelings of pride in the accomplishments of our team, a belief in America’s will to flourish and an understanding of what we all have at our fingertips when one is willing to reach far enough to grab it. And for those of you that didn’t catch it, Carbon’s Chairman and CEO, William Santana Li, dedicated the occasion to the nation’s law enforcement first responders. A true mark of a genuine and classy leader, if you ask me!

I to believe there is alot of respect for those fellow officers out there, that needs to be given more recognition. The fact that William Santana li, dedicated this remarkable accomplishment, shows the dedication, and integrity towards our fallen, and standing officers. If many more family members taught these values, America would be better than Great. Here is to the prayer that Carbon motors comes to Indiana, so we may show, what it means to be a classy leader in the security of America.
As a citizen of upstate South Carolina, I strongly urge Carbon Motors to select the Greenville/Spartanburg area for their new manufacturing plant. We are home to many automotive related companies including BMW, Timken, Michelin, Lear, etc. We are also home to Clemson University and the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research. fDi Magzine has ranked Greenville as the top North American city of less than 100,000 population in terms of prospects for economic development and business expansion. Press release can be found here: http://www.greenvillesc.gov/city_government/forms/media/NorthAmericanCitiesFuture2009.pdf We have a low tax base and a great quality of life. Greenville was ranked the 4th best city in the country to live in by Relocate-America.com for 2008. The upstate is home to all transportation infrastructure needed for Carbon Motors including rail, interstate, and an international airport. The port of Charleston is also located only a few hours nearby. There is a reason companies like BMW and Michelin have chosen the upstate to call home. Carbon Motors should do the same. :)
I agree with Jacob. The Greenville/Spartanburg area is perfect for such a manufacturing facility, particularly with the addition of ICAR. I personally know of a site of over 400 acres that is in close proximity to Interstate 85, the Greenville/Spartanburg International Airport,ICAR, etc. With our technically oriented base, our area would be ideal.
I hope to see Carbon Motors select the Pooler Ga location. All of the infrastructure is in place, easy access to both Interstate 95 and I-16, Norfolk Southern rail service, the fastest growing port on the US close by in Garden City, Savannah, International Airport minutes away.
