Intelligent Mirror
So how do you know that the Carbon E7 will be a hit with customers? Well, our motto is “Designed by Law Enforcement, For Law Enforcement”!
Over the last several years we have worked with over 800 law enforcement agencies from small, medium, and large agencies to local, state, and federal authorities in urban, rural, and coastal environments across all 50 US States. In addition, over 1,300 active and retired law enforcement officials have volunteered their time to join the Carbon Council, a highly-effective online users group that provides the Carbon team a direct connection with our customers.
What has come out of all those interactions, focus groups, surveys, meetings, one-one-discussions, emails, letters and general smoke signals (including S.O.S. signals) is a tremendous body of knowledge regarding the wants, needs, and desires of the law enforcement community including the officers, the administration, brass, local community, city councils, maintenance folks, politicians and fleet administrators. These “operating requirements”, as we call them, are now nearing over 100 addressing anything from the size of the vehicle, to fuel economy, purchasing process, pricing, features, where it should be built, warranty, service – you name it.
For those civilians reading this blog, you would be shocked to know what we found. There are over 19,000 law enforcement agencies that have patrolled our communities for decades and kept our homeland safe. Yet when we interact with these first responders, the conversation usually begins with, “Well no one has ever asked us, but what we really need is…......”. This is well over a $3 billion annual expenditure of taxpayer money. And we, the country, have never bothered to sit and ask what they really need? Unacceptable. We can and will do better for these honorable women and men in uniform.
Now, our job at Carbon Motors Corporation is to take all those market driven requirements and come up with a viable technical and business proposition to meet those needs. In the coming weeks, you’ll be able to witness the embodiment of that proposition – the Carbon ‘E7’ concept demonstration vehicle. This will be the long-awaited running prototype of the world’s first purpose-built law enforcement patrol vehicle (!).
Even ahead of the vehicle being placed in the public eye (and we might share some sneak peeks as we build up to that date), I would like to thank all of you that have taken the time to call, write, meet, and interact with us. We strive to be that ‘intelligent mirror’ for you and we hope the vehicle will do your courage out in the field justice.
